Who We Are
BatBlueprint is a youth baseball equipment guide that helps parents choose the right bat for their child. The site is operated by Bat Blueprint, Amityville, New York.
What We Collect
We keep data collection to a minimum. Here’s what may be collected when you visit:
Information you give us directly. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you write in your message. We use that information only to respond to you.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, the time of your visit, and the referring website. This information is used for security, troubleshooting, and understanding general traffic patterns.
The bat size calculator. The calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. When you enter your child’s age, height, weight, skill level, and league, that information stays on your device and is not sent to us, stored, or shared with anyone. Nothing you type into the calculator is saved.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser. We use cookies for the following purposes:
Essential cookies. Required for the site to function properly (for example, security, load balancing).
Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (which pages are popular, how long people stay, and so on). Google Analytics sets cookies that help it recognize returning visitors. The information collected is aggregated and used to improve the site.
You can disable cookies through your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
Google Analytics and Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services on this site:
Google Analytics. Provides aggregated visitor statistics. Google’s privacy practices are described at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Search Console. Provides data on how the site appears in Google search results. This service does not track individual visitors on the site.
Our web host. Stores standard server logs for security and troubleshooting.
Affiliate Links and How We Make Money
BatBlueprint is a free resource, but we plan to earn money through affiliate links. Here’s exactly how that works, so you know what you’re clicking:
What an affiliate link is. Some links on this site may lead to products sold by third-party retailers like Amazon, JustBats, or similar. If you click one of those links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly.
Our commitment. We only recommend products we believe are genuinely useful for the age and player type we’re writing about. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews, and we do not recommend products we would not stand behind. If we ever accept a free product from a manufacturer for review, we will disclose that clearly on the page in question.
How disclosure works on the site. Any page that contains affiliate links will include a clear disclosure at the top of the page identifying that the page contains affiliate links. This follows Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines for endorsements and testimonials.
Programs we may participate in. As of the date above, we are not yet enrolled in any affiliate program. When we join programs, this policy will be updated to name them. Programs we anticipate joining include Amazon Associates and youth baseball equipment retailer affiliate programs.
Your choice. You are never required to use our affiliate links. If you prefer to go directly to a retailer without our link, please do so. The content on this site is written to help you regardless of whether you buy anything.
How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Respond to emails and questions you send us
- Understand how the site is being used so we can improve it
- Maintain site security and troubleshoot technical problems
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
Data Retention
Server logs are typically kept for a short period (usually 30 to 90 days) for security purposes. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google’s policies, which you can configure or opt out of at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to respond to your questions.
Children’s Privacy
This site is written for parents and coaches making equipment decisions for youth players. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
